Can I keep driving with Porter ELD?
Not on this device. FMCSA's date was Sep 8, 2026 (48 days ago). Drivers still using it are in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), "No record of duty status", and are placed out of service. The paper-log bridge in FMCSA's notice ran until that date: you need a registered ELD.
FMCSA's notice: "Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data." Replace "before Sep 8, 2026". The 8-day paper-log limit is a different rule, for a registered ELD that breaks down: "The driver must inform their carrier of the malfunction within 24 hours. The motor carrier has 8 days to repair, service, or replace the ELD." (FMCSA ELD FAQ)

Is Porter ELD still FMCSA approved?
No. Porter ELD (ELD ID POR247) was revoked by FMCSA on Jul 9, 2026. FMCSA's notice says to replace it before Sep 8, 2026; from that date, drivers still using it are put out of service. A revoked or withdrawn device isn't on FMCSA's registered list, and 49 CFR 395.22(a) allows only registered ELDs.
Can I still use Porter ELD?
No. FMCSA's date for it was Sep 8, 2026. Drivers still using it on or after that date are in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), "No record of duty status", and are placed out of service.
Can a revoked ELD be reinstated?
Yes, if the maker fixes the problems: "If the ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies for their devices, FMCSA will place the ELDs back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry and the field of the update." Until FMCSA's registered list shows it again, treat it as revoked.
What should I replace it with?
Any device on FMCSA's registered list. Registered providers that publish a monthly price start at $5.00 a month: ELD prices.
